An end to this rat race

I realize more with each passing year how much waste we produce as a society. I understand that some waste is necessary for functioning, at least how society and globalization is currently developed. I also imagine all the stuff we have accumulated on this planet and how we just keep creating more and more instead of reusing what we have. We are surrounded and inundated with ads, marketing and promotions. More recently, I’ve become aware of how this is monopolized and we prey on ourselves as consumers. To be a consumer this day and age is hardly a choice. With targeted advertising and little privacy, we take advantage of the worst traits of humans and exploit ourselves for money, only propagating these harmful traits. We need to take some responsibility and show ourselves some love and compassion to quit exploiting ourselves and focus inward on what truly matters. Yes, art and expression are important, but there are much better ways of being even more creative by using what we already have, both at the individual level and at the production level. We must learn how to innovate while also considering efficiency in waste and healing our planet. I also think part of what is holding us back is that we want to blame someone or some corporation and I don’t think its that simple with the complexity of societal development and globalization. I think it best to assume positive intent and seek ways to work together. This change starts within oneself and loving unconditionally to reach one’s highest potential in order to learn true happiness and self acceptance, which will serve to develop a new way of living with new priorities and a deeper purpose for life. I really believe that our evolution and innovation would be unstoppable, almost magical, the likes of something we’ve never seen before.

My ultimate tip on how to be part of this movement is to curate your life with things that inspire you and exemplify the person you want to be at your highest potential. This will help to change your thought patterns, encourage collaboration, hopefully break some part of the consumer-advertiser cycle and will give you more hope in the possibility of change: an end to this rat race.
